Angelina Jolie Eats Spiders?! And 9 Other Weird Celeb Food Confessions
From wildly unhealthy breakfasts to munching on bugs, here are 10 food confessions from celebrities that will leave you beyond perplexed.
Overview
Celebrities have never been ones to do things the conventional way, and that includes how they feed themselves. In recent years, some of the most well-known stars have made some of the strangest food confessions. From Angelina Jolie's penchant for eating bugs (pan-seared tarantulas, anyone?) to Kourtney Kardashian downing a cup of melted butter every morning to Jennifer Lawrence's "signature sandwich," some stars march to the beat of their own culinary drum. Find out what some of the hottest celebrities have confessed to consuming. But, spoiler alert: They're not all for the faint of heart.
1. Matthew McConaughey’s Breakfast of Champions
He may have shed 38 pounds to play an AIDS patient in "The Dallas Buyers Club," but in 2016 Matthew McConaughey had to gain weight — about 50 pounds — for his role in the movie "Gold." Instead of taking the healthy approach, as many celebrities have done in the past, the 48-year-old decided to indulge in all of his culinary desires. For him, that meant pizza nights — and that's not all. "Cheeseburgers and beer for breakfast was a great idea. I really relaxed on the rules!" he said on "The Graham Norton Show."

2. Angelina Jolie’s Insect Buffet
It's no secret that Angelina Jolie tends to take the road less traveled, but who knew that applied to her food as well? The worldly mom of six surprised fans when earlier this year she told BBC's Yalda Hakim about a time she and her children cooked up an insect buffet in Cambodia. Jolie showed twins Knox and Vivienne how to properly saute a spider ("See the hard part where you have the teeth? Take the fangs out."), and then revealed that she tried bugs the first time she visited the country. The actress didn't dive into eating insects headfirst, though: She had to work her way up to consuming eight-legged crawlers. "You start with crickets. Crickets and a beer, and then you kind of move up to tarantulas," she said.

3. Kim Kardashian’s Everyday Salad
What food rut? During a 2017 episode of "Watch What Happens Live," Kim Kardashian admitted to Andy Cohen that she ate the same salad "every single day" for a year to help lose the baby weight she gained with Saint and get her to her goal of 120 pounds. If you've ever seen an episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," you know that the mom of two still adores the dish (which is the Chinese chicken salad from Health Nut in Calabasas), but she no longer eats it 365 days a year. Sometimes you just need to mix it up.

4. Shailene Woodley’s Clay Consumption
With her toned physique and glowing skin, it doesn't come as a shock that people are curious about "Big Little Lies" star Shailene Woodley's diet. But when the 25-year-old told beauty website Into the Gloss that she eats clay — yes, clay — fans understandably began scratching their heads. Woodley admits that she started the peculiar practice after she learned about it from a taxi driver. "I first heard about the benefits of eating clay from a taxi driver. He was African and was saying that, where he's from, the women eat clay when they're pregnant," the "Divergent" star confessed. "So I've discovered that clay is great for you because your body doesn't absorb it, and it apparently provides a negative charge, so it bonds to negative isotopes... it also helps clean heavy metals out of your body."

5. Kourtney Kardashian’s Breakfast Butter
While some people have butter with breakfast, Kourtney Kardashian has butter for breakfast. But, of course, not just any old butter will do for the mom of three. Kardashian drinks clarified butter, or ghee, as soon as she gets up each morning. "Ghee is the first thing I put in my body every morning," the 36-year-old shared on her website. "I take one big teaspoon of ghee every morning and melt it on the stove in a pan and drink it out of a cute little ceramic white cup. After I take it, I don't eat anything for 20 minutes, and then I drink a glass of water before eating food." Apparently, ghee is rich in oil-soluble vitamins and is considered a healthy fat, which, Kardashian wrote, "means the fatty acids are absorbed directly into the liver and burnt as energy."
6. Jennifer Lawrence’s Signature Sandwich
Go big or go home. In 2016, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence revealed to Glamour that she invented a signature sandwich for when she's feeling indulgent — and on this sandwich, slices of pizza are used instead of bread. "It's called a chili pizza sandwich," she said. "You have a piece of pizza. You put chili in it with noodles — like Southern chili with noodles. And then another piece of pizza, and then you eat it like a sandwich." Heaven only knows how many calories the spaghetti-chili-pizza sandwich has, but, hey, there's a reason it's called a "cheat day."

7. Tim Tebow’s Coffee With a Twist
By now we've all heard about Bulletproof Coffee, but former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has taken the trendy beverage to another level. Not wanting "that much caffeine" when he wakes up, the 30-year-old mixes half regular and half decaf coffee before stirring in "a tap of heavy organic whipping cream," a sliver of butter, a dash of unsweetened almond milk and two-to-three drops of liquid stevia (English toffee flavor, thank you very much). According to Tebow, the elaborate drink tastes "a little bit like a milkshake" and "really kick-starts your day."

8. Tori Spelling’s Candy Salad
As a mom of five, Tori Spelling knows a thing or two about trying to get kids to eat their greens, but her family's gummy bear salad recipe is a long way from sneaking some veggies into a bowl of mac and cheese. On her blog, the actress wrote that while the recipe is her husband Dean McDermott's creation, she's a fan of it herself — and so are her children. Whipping up the infamous gummy bear salad involves melting the candy down and mixing the sugary liquid with a few other ingredients to make a salad dressing. And then, of course, a few gummy bears get thrown on top for garnish. Bon appetit!

9. Channing Tatum’s Cheeto Sandwich
Most people wouldn't peg Channing Tatum — or his abs — as a Cheeto lover, but apparently the cheesy snack is a key ingredient in the "Magic Mike" star's favorite sandwich. During a Reddit AMA in 2015, the "21 Jump Street" actor was asked what his all-time favorite sandwich was, and his answer immediately made headlines. "Bread, white. Peanut butter — not crunchy, creamy. Grape jelly — double portion, more than you think should actually fit on a piece of white bread. Bread. And then some Cheetos shoved in there, and then you're good to go," Tatum wrote. Hey, don't mock it till you try it.

10. Renee Zellweger’s Meal of Ice
In the span of her impressive career, Renee Zellweger has gained and lost weight for various roles, so she knows a trick or two about dieting. Perhaps her strangest "snack" is eating ice instead of, well, actual food. When she's been asked to slim down for a film, the Golden Globe winner has reportedly chewed on ice instead of reaching for, say, an apple. The ice apparently is able to keep Zelleweger full in between meals and has helped her shed unwanted pounds. Of course, regardless of whether ice eating is effective or not, it's unlikely any doctor or nutritionist would ever approve of this method for losing weight.
