AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion is recommended by beauty magazines and dermatologists alike for its ability to treat rough, dry skin. Available at drugstores, the product contains 12 percent lactic acid. While this dose is comparable to prescription strength alpha-hydroxy acid, AmLactin lotion has the added benefit of being pH-balanced for the skin.

Dry Skin and More

Nongreasy and fragrance-free, AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion specifically targets dry-skin conditions. Not only is lactic acid a humectant that deeply moisturizes, it also exfoliates dead skin cells. Regular use, which is recommended twice daily, speeds skin-cell turnover to reduce the occurrence of flaky skin over time. In addition to benefiting aging skin, perpetual dryness and eczema, AmLactin is used to treat keratosis pilaris; sometimes called "chicken skin" -- tiny red bumps that form on the back of the arms and inner thighs when a buildup of protein plugs the hair follicles. AmLactin's ability to exfoliate and moisturize helps those plagued with KP control their symptoms.
