How to Make Face Lotion With Aloe & Essential Oils
Aloe vera is renowned for its healing and soothing properties for the skin. It calms angry red skin, is cooling for allergic skin reactions, and heals skin affected by eczema, psoriasis and shingles. It is also very effective for the treatment of sunburn. The properties of essential oils have long been known.
Aloe vera is renowned for its healing and soothing properties for the skin. It calms angry red skin, is cooling for allergic skin reactions, and heals skin affected by eczema, psoriasis and shingles. It is also very effective for the treatment of sunburn. The properties of essential oils have long been known. According to the International Federation of Aromatherapists, the molecules of essential oils are so tiny that "they easily pass through the skin into the bloodstream, which circulates them throughout the body."
Basic Skin Cream
Step 1
Add 15ml (3 flat tsp.) of aloe vera gel to the glass jar and combine with 5ml (1 tsp.) of jojoba oil. Stir the mixture together until it begins to thicken. This will only take a couple of minutes.
Step 2
Add a further 2.5ml (1/2 flat tsp.) of aloe vera gel and stir vigorously until the mixture becomes slack and opaque.
Step 3
Close the lid and store in a cool, dry place.
For Mature or Wrinkled Skin
Step 1
Make the Basic Face Cream as described in Section 1.
Step 2
Add 2 drops of rose otto essential oil, 4 drops of neroli essential oil and 4 drops of frankincense essential oil and mix gently together.
Step 3
Close the lid and use the cream morning and night for best results.
For Oily or Combination Skin
Step 1
Make the Basic Face Cream as described in Section 1.
Step 2
Add 4 drops of tea tree oil, 2 drops of chamomile oil and 4 drops of geranium oil, and stir gently. If you have very sensitive skin, consider substituting frankincense oil for tea tree.
Step 3
Close the lid and store in a cool dry place. Use morning and night.
Tip
The cream will keep for around four to six weeks at a cool room temperature around 55 degrees F (10 degrees C). Don't leave in direct sunlight.

Essential oils are very powerful, so don't add extra drops to the mix. Use with caution on the elderly and on children. If making the cream for either the elderly or for children, only use one drop of each oil.
