A few easy steps can help ease the immediate pain, but if your toe continues to hurt after a few days or appears deformed in any way, see a doctor or health care practitioner.

Rest your feet. Avoid the compulsion to "walk it off."

Wrap an ice pack or cold gel pack in a thin towel and apply it to your toe.
