Steak-umms are a brand name of thinly sliced beef that is sold frozen in many grocery stores. Steak-umms work well for creating sandwiches like the Philly Cheesesteak. Steak-umms have a relatively high fat content, so it is wise to eat them sparingly. The only ingredient is Steak-umms is beef, making them additive and preservative-free. Steak-umms cook quite quickly, so it is a good idea to have your other ingredients ready before you start the cooking process.

Step 1

Preheat a frying pan or skillet to medium-high.

Step 2

Add a frozen Steak-umm to a dry pan, or two if the pan is large enough. The fat content of the meat makes extra fat in the pan unnecessary.

Step 3

Cook the Steak-umm for one minute, and then flip it over to the other side with tongs and cook for an additional 15 to 20 seconds.

Step 4

Remove the Steak-um from the pan and add it to your sandwich.

Tip

Sauté onions and peppers before you cook the beef and add them to your sandwich for a different flavor.
