How to Cook a Steak on a Griddler
Steak is most often cooked on a grill, but if you do not have access to a grill or the weather does not want to cooperate for outdoor cooking, the Cuisinart Griddler is a good substitute. It sits on your counter, offering a grill top, contact grill, sandwich press and griddle setting.
Steak is most often cooked on a grill, but if you do not have access to a grill or the weather does not want to cooperate for outdoor cooking, the Cuisinart Griddler is a good substitute. It sits on your counter, offering a grill top, contact grill, sandwich press and griddle setting. The Griddler relies on electricity, but it can deliver a tasty steak just as well as a grill. It is designed to drain away any excess grease that is produced during cooking. Many cuts of steak require high heat to quickly sear the outside and seal in the juices. Purchase a lean cut of steak and trim away excess fat for a healthier piece of meat.
Set your wrapped steak on a plate on the counter for about 30 minutes to bring it to room temperature.
Set the Griddler up for the contact grill.
Preheat the Griddler by turning the dial to grill setting and adjust the temperature control to high heat. The Griddler will be ready when the green indicator light turns on.
Rub 1 tablespoon of olive oil on both sides of the steak. Season it with a pinch of sea salt and 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.
Sprinkle other seasonings, such as steak seasoning, or brush condiments, such as horseradish, mustard or steak sauce, on the steak as well, if desired.
Place the steak on the Griddler and lightly close the top.
Cook the steak for 7 to 10 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to check when the steak has finished cooking properly. The internal temperature should reach 140 degrees Fahrenheit. As the steak rests, the temperature will rise another 5 degrees.
Let the steak rest for 5 minutes so the juices redistribute.
Tip
Marinate the steak for 30 minutes to 2 hours before cooking.
