Amla oil is a product known for its effect on hair growth and thickness. Originally, amla comes in a powder form created when the fruit from the tree dries. To produce the oil, manufacturers infuse this powder with an oil product, such as coconut oil. This infusion takes little time or heat and is something that you can accomplish at home in your own kitchen. Making your own amla oil will save money and provide all the benefits that come with it.

Step 1

Place all ingredients into a pan. Put the pan on the stove at a low heat to allow coconut oil to melt. As the mixture warms it will change to a brown color.

Step 2

Remove the pan from the stove once the combination becomes brown and liquid. Stir it with a spoon and then allow the oil to cool.

Step 3

Pour the cooled amla oil in a clear bottle. If necessary, place a strainer or coffee filter over the bottle opening as you pour to remove any debris, such undissolved powder.

Tip

Keep the oil in a dry place at room temperature for two weeks before discarding.

Apply amla oil to your scalp and massage to promote hair growth. Run your fingers through hair to saturate the strands for deep conditioning. Leave in place for 30 minutes and then wash and condition normally.

warning

If you develop a rash or skin irritation with amla oil, discontinue use. This would indicate an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients.
