How to Increase Eyelash Growth
Long, thick eyelashes are the desire of many women and even some men, but not everyone is fortunate enough to have them. You can load up on mascara or maybe even slap on some falsies, but these are only temporary fixes.
Long, thick eyelashes are the desire of many women and even some men, but not everyone is fortunate enough to have them. You can load up on mascara or maybe even slap on some falsies, but these are only temporary fixes. Just like the hair on the rest of your body, you need to show your lashes some love if you want to increase the chances of them growing.
Step 1
Take it easy on the eyelash curler. You don't have to skip it altogether, but only curl each lash for 10 to 20 seconds. Any longer and you begin to damage the lashes, which inhibits growth.
Step 2
Eat a healthy diet. Choose foods that are high in protein and essential fatty acids. Salmon, nuts, eggs, lean beef, chicken, turkey, beans and tuna are all good choices for foods high in protein or essential fatty acids. If it's okay with your doctor, consider taking a daily vitamin or Omega-3 supplement to also help your lashes grow.
Step 3
Rub castor or jojoba oil onto your lashes before bedtime. Take off all of your eye makeup, then dampen a cotton ball with the oil. Close your eyes and dab it onto your lashes before going to sleep for the night.
Step 4
Use a lash-growth product. There are a variety of products on the market that will help increase the growth of eyelashes. Many of these products are applied using an applicator that looks like a mascara brush. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for applying these products, as it will vary among manufacturers. Consult a dermatologist or licensed esthetician for the right product for you.
Tip
Keep your lashes healthy by removing all eye makeup before going to bed for the night. The stronger and healthier your lashes, the greater chance you have of them growing.
