When many people feel lethargic, they reach for a candy bar for a quick boost of energy. If you have a gluten intolerance, gluten allergy or celiac disease, you can't just grab any food product and assume that it doesn't contain gluten. Many types of candy bars contain gluten -- but you won't have any gluten-related reaction after consuming a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

Certified Gluten-Free

The Hershey Company, which is the parent company of several brands of candy bar -- including Reese's Peanut Butter Cups -- confirms on its website that the chocolate and peanut butter snacks are free of gluten. All varieties of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, except seasonal specialty varieties, are gluten-free. This information is also clearly marked with a logo on the candy bar's wrapper.

Other Gluten-Free Products

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups aren't the only variety of Hershey candy that is free of gluten. Almond Joy, Mounds, Heath, Skor and York Peppermint Pattie are also gluten-free. Several other chocolate products, including Hershey's Kisses and many types of Hershey baking chips, are also devoid of gluten.

Reese's Nutritional Information

Although Reese's Peanut Butter Cups don't contain gluten, they do contain peanuts, which is another common allergen. This product is also high in calories and sugar. One package of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups contains 210 total calories, including 110 calories from fat. The product has 13 grams of total fat, 24 grams of carbohydrates and 21 grams of sugar. Gluten Sensitivity Symptoms

If you avoid consuming gluten, you likely make a habit of checking the labels of the products you purchase in the supermarket for allergen information. If you're sensitive to gluten and mistakenly consume a candy bar that contains gluten, such as KitKat or Twix, you might experience symptoms including stomach pain or bloating, a skin rash or even an aching pain in your joints.
